Vincent Frano is a primarily self-taught artist who was born in Northern Virginia in 1987. The landscapes, plants, insects, water, stones, soils, and animals he encountered as a child profoundly shaped his life and art. From a young age he developed close relationships with the environment and beings around him as well as a keen curiosity for the workings of the natural world. These experiences transformed into his animistic worldview, which is a constant theme in his works.

His artistic works range from botanical illustrations and gouache paintings to mask making and performance art. His freelance and illustrative works are inspired by the art of pre-19th-century botanists and naturalists. His personal works focus on intuitive creation and spiritual experience, as he seeks to express his relationship to the Earth and the beings and spirits all around us.

Since 2009 Vincent has lived in Massachusetts, and he now calls Pelham, MA home. He is graduating with a degree in Sustainable Horticulture in 2019 from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Amherst, MA. Previously he completed an Illustration Certificate in 2012 with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. His works have been exhibited in galleries and shows Boston, Somerville, and Amherst. He has been published in Edible Pioneer Valley and has designed logos for businesses throughout New England. He is also co-owner of The Bower Studio, where he designs handcrafted products with his partner.
